Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Stir ("Stir," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Stir mobile app and website (stirbehindthebar.com).

01Who we are

Stir is developed and operated by Taravat Nazeri, a sole proprietor based in California, United States. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL].

02Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider). If you sign in with Apple, we receive the name and the (real or private relay) email address you choose to share.

Your public profile. If you fill out your profile, we store what you enter: display name, role, bar or company, city, years of experience, a short "About Me," a bio, work history, specialties, certifications, links (for example Instagram or a website), and an optional profile photo. Your profile is public by default, meaning other Stir users can see it. If you turn on Private Account, people who don't follow you see only your name, photo, role, bar, and city until you approve their follow request.

Social activity. When you use the cocktail feed, we store the posts you publish (cocktail name, tasting notes, ingredients and measurements unless you hide the recipe, and photo), your comments and likes, who you follow and who follows you, follow requests, and any reports or blocks you submit. Posts, comments, and likes are visible to other users.

Bar and recipe data you enter. Stir stores the data you create while using the app: cocktail specs, your recipe library, menus, inventory items, counts and costs, vendors, deliveries and purchase orders, waste logs, and staff schedules and accountability records. If you enter information about other people, such as your staff, you are responsible for having the right to do so and for handling it in line with your obligations to them.

Staff invitations. If you invite a team member, we use the email address you provide to send the invitation and to link their account to your bar.

Photos. The Invoice Scanner reads a photographed invoice entirely on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition; that photo is never uploaded. Photos you choose to add to your profile or to a feed post are uploaded and stored with your account.

AI features. When you use Studio to generate cocktails, menus, or images, the ingredients, preferences, and descriptions you enter are sent to our server, which uses Anthropic (Claude) to write the recipe text and OpenAI to generate cocktail images. These providers process that information only to return your result. No AI provider keys are stored on your device.

Point-of-sale and accounting connections (optional). If you choose to connect Square or QuickBooks, we receive the sales and accounting data needed for features like variance reports and P&L. Access tokens for those services are stored on our servers, never on your device, and you can disconnect at any time.

Purchases. Stir Pro subscriptions and image credit packs are purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles payment; we never receive your card details. We receive only what is needed to confirm a purchase (for example, that a subscription is active or that credits were bought) and keep your credit balance on our server.

Information we do not collect. Stir does not access your location or contacts, does not use advertising or third-party analytics or tracking tools, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

03How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the app's features and sync your data across your devices
  • Show your profile, posts, and activity to other users as described above
  • Generate the recipes, menus, and images you request
  • Confirm purchases and maintain your subscription status and credit balance
  • Review reports, remove content that breaks our rules, and keep the community safe
  • Respond to support requests
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the service

04How we share your information

  • Other users. Your public profile, posts, comments, likes, and follower counts are visible to other Stir users, subject to your Private Account setting.
  • Service providers. We use Supabase to host our database, file storage, and authentication; Anthropic and OpenAI to power AI features; and Apple to process purchases and Sign in with Apple. If you connect them, Square and Intuit (QuickBooks) provide your sales and accounting data to us. Providers process information only to deliver Stir's functionality.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Stir, our users, or others.
  • We do not sell or "share" your personal information (as those terms are defined under California law), and we do not share it with advertisers.

05Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Sync & Account → Delete Account. This removes your account, profile, posts, comments, likes, follows, uploaded photos, and synced data, and cannot be undone. Content removed for violating our rules may be kept for a limited time where needed to enforce those rules or comply with the law.

06Data security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers, database access rules that limit each account to its own private data, and secure on-device storage (the iOS Keychain) for your sign-in session. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

07Age requirement and children's privacy

Stir is about cocktails and is intended for adults of legal drinking age (21 or older in the United States). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will delete it.

08Your rights

Depending on where you live, including California and the European Union, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can do most of this directly in the app by editing your profile and data or deleting your account. For anything else, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

09Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know in the app before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest revision.
